Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

Here’s a list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 64GB RAM (2021)

You don't realize just how loud an Intel-based laptop is until you go ARM.

  • Dell 38in Ultrawide Monitor

Gotta love two 27in 1920x1600 monitors side by side without a bezel. One day I'll graduate to a 5k2k panel.

  • ZSA Moonlander

Bye bye (mostly) to tension headaches; hello multi-layer layouts and buttons. Here's my Oryx firmware.

  • Logitech MX Master

    Is there a better mouse?

  • LF Gaming Chair

They say to buy a good bed since you spend a third of your life on it. I guess the same goes for a programmer and their chair...

  • Fully Jarvis Desk

Sturdy, reliable, sit-stand, plenty of space, cheap worth it.

Development tools

  • PHPStorm

    Yes, I use vim mode.

  • VS Code

For quick edits of text files.

  • Zed

Giving this a try for my learnings of other languages like Zig, Go, Rust, Roc, etc.

  • Figma

Far from an expert but can use it enough to convert designs into sites.

  • Warp

Barely scratching the surface of what it can do over iTerm2 but I heard it's coded in Rust so it must be OP.

  • TablePlus

When I'm doing quick db inspection/queries.

  • DataGrip

    When I'm doing less-quick db inspection/queries.

Productivity

  • Arc Browser

Vertical tabs & folders inside of Spaces, command/keyboard interface... don't know how I functioned before using this browser as my daily driver.

  • Raycast

Alfred was my goto for a while, but the quality and ease of use from Raycast (including access to multiple AI models for a fair price) has made me switch.

  • Front

A multi-user, multi-channel inbox app. Technically, we use it for BackerClub, but I may or may not pull in some personal email addresses as well.

Kitchen & Food

  • Gozney Dome

I love my Neapolitan 🍕. Went through 3 Ooni's before biting the bullet and getting this awesome gas + wood-fired oven.

  • XL Big Green Egg

Once you know how to use this style of charcoal grill, you won't go back to gas. The ease of maintenance, flavors, versatility, and longevity (ours is going strong for 9 years now) can't be matched.

  • Ken Onion Work Sharp Knife Sharpener

If you're serious about cooking, get serious about your knives and their routine sharpening. This isn't the holy grail of sharpeners, but it's incredibly easy to use on the regular and doesn't beat the crap out of your edges.

  • Decent Kitchen Scales

Please, I beg you, stop measuring quantities by volume. Cook like an engineer. Get yourself a 5,000g/1g scale (or better) + a 500g/.1g (or better) scale and never attempt to measure 4.116 cups of flour again.

  • Fellow Stagg Kettle

Works well, looks nice, makes cold water hot.

  • Aillio Bullet R1

I do a lot of coffee roasting. After slowly upgrading through 3 prior roasters, I now have the pleasure of using one of the best home/commercial sample roasters out there. A fantastic piece of kit. Induction heating ftw.
